Happy Anniversary Travis and Karen

While we were up in Red Bluff for the Holidays my brother Travis and his wife Karen celebrated their 5 year Wedding Anniversary. They had always talked about doing something special for the big 5, but about a month before I still hadn't heard if they had any plans. Mom and I decided that we would surprise them with a Wedding/Anniversary cake. I came up with the design and Mom supplied the pans and LOTS of Moral support.

The Plan:
A 2 tiered white cake, with orange ribbon around the bottom and white fondant balls. On the top would be an orange plaque with their Initials in white. The bottom layer of the cake would be white chocolate with raspberry filling the top layer would be rice crispy treat. With the plan in place I set out to make the cake.

First, I made the white chocolate cake. While it was baking I made the rice crispy treat cake!

Looks cute huh?!

After the cakes cooled I made the raspberry filling. I piped a border of frosting around the rim to keep the filling in.
Then I added the second layer. Now, what we didn't notice until after the cakes had baked, was the pans we had weren't for stacking cakes. I'm not sure what Wilton was thinking, but does this cake look right to you?? No, so we had to carve down the sides of the cake to make it even and then frost around the outside.

While I was frosting the cake, Chris was making the plaque for the stop of the cake. He did this all by hand and I'd say it turned out beautifully.

T.W.K.

Here is the finished product. It was much harder than I expected, but that is normal when trying something for the first time. The cake was a little dry and didn't quite taste how I wanted, but in the end it's the thought that counts right?!

Happy 5 Year Anniversary Travis and Karen!
Here's to many more!
