It's a New Year!

I tried to blog a few weeks ago and after uploading the pictures and typing up almost everything, the internet went out and I lost the whole post. I had planned to try again the next night, but then felt so defeated that I didn't feel like it. After a very restful weekend I am refreshed and ready to blog again. I'm sure some of you have felt neglected since I stopped blogging a few months ago, but I assure you I haven't done much baking, so you haven't missed too much. Now, I'll catch you up to speed with the little baking I did do.

Thanksgiving:

I was in charge of Pumpkin Pies again this year. I get excited every year until it is time to make the crust. This year I was so excited that the crust rolled out with ease and looked so perfect.... Then I baked it.... the crust shield that I use is wonderful except in this case, my dough was soft so it flattened it in some areas. Booo! Oh well, the pie still tasted delicious.

Christmas parties:

D2-
We decided to just go out to eat this year for our Annual D2 Christmas party (see our family blog for that post.) Since some of the group don't live in the area Chris and I decided to invite the gang over to our place first to get ready here. Only a couple of the guys came, but I still had appetizers for them. I made the usual cheese and cracker platter along with some Chex Mix and Muddie Buddies, but this year I told Chris I would make some Armenian Cheese Borag. I had made them once at his parents house and they are really easy to make. A little cheese, some puff pastry and a few other ingredients. Bake in the oven for about 25 minutes and bam, Borag!

Work-
Amazingly enough this year for our work Christmas party we ordered food from an Italian restaurant across the street and made life very simple. No arranging who is going to bring what, then having people bring completely different food. (I'm not a fan of potlucks, can you tell?!) It was nice to just show up and enjoy each others company. I did bring a batch of fudge (the only Christmas goodies I made this year) and it was gone in no time. However, I didn't take any pictures, but I'm sure you all know what fudge looks like.

Other than that, not much baking around here. Since we spend so much time on the road traveling to see our families for Christmas I don't really help prepare much for the Holiday Dinners. Hopefully when Chris is done with Dental School and we are settled for a little while, then I can help out more with that. For now the families are just thankful we are there.
