Beef Stew

I got some stew meat on sale at the grocery store today, so Stew for dinner it was!!! Since I have never actually made stew on my own I did what I always do first.... Call Mom. She told me to use my pressure cooker and just follow the recipe that came with it. Here is the recipe (with my few adjustments.)

1lb lean beef cut into cubes (I used 1.25 lbs because that is how much came in the package.)
1 cup water
1 large onion sliced (I didn't have an onion so I just sprinkled in some onion powder.)
1 cup carrots sliced
1 cup celery sliced
1tbsp ketchup
1tsp worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup cold water
1 tbsp flour

First I browned the meat in a little oil and onion powder. Than added the water and put the lid on. I let it cook until the top started rocking. Then I let it cook for 8 minutes with pressure regulator rocking slowly. Cool cooker at once.

Next, add vegetables and stir in ketchup and worcestershire sauce. Then cover securely. Let cook for 3 minutes with pressure regulator rocking slowly. Cool at once.

Mix water and flour together. Stir into stew and let cook until stew thickens, stirring constantly.

To serve along with the stew I heated up some mashed potatoes that I had made a few weeks ago and froze in scoops. They tasted delicious and took me no time at all to cook when I needed them for dinner.

And the final product.
