Chris and I gave up eating pizza for 5 months. Well, I gave up eating pizza and so Chris had to give it up too. We have been getting up and going to the gym at 5:00 am, three days a week and have really enjoyed the time together. However, the results we (I) wanted, just didn't seem to be happening for us. I thought about it and though we have been trying to eat healthier we needed to start being smarter about it. We cut back a lot on the amounts we were eating and making sure to eat fruits and veggies, but there was one thing that always seemed to appear that we just couldn't say no to. That is right.... PIZZA. Such a delicious and cheap meal, and served at least once a week around the dental school. The school is always having "lunch and learns" aka you come sit and listen and we will provide pizza. It is my job to help order and set up the pizzas and Chris would often attend the meetings. I started to think about it. 1 slice of pizza contains more calories than I burn in a morning at the gym. I finally came to the decision, Pizza had to go. Now, I was going to set the goal for 6 months, but 5 months in was going to be our trip up to see my family in Red Bluff. I can't make a trip to Red Bluff without eating Round Table Pizza. Thus our 5 month goal. Amazingly enough we have actually stuck to our plan. Chris almost gave in once, but guilt (me) got the best of him (he thanked me later for holding him accountable!) We now have only 3 weeks left. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by and much self control I have learned. The count down is on my calendar and my coworkers have made a big deal about the day I get to break my pizza fast. Many are calling August 23rd, the National eat pizza in honor of Cheryl day. What can I say, I impact peoples lives, or just whine a lot, one of the two.
Please take a moment to reflect on what you eat. Is there something you just can't say no to. Something maybe you should go without. Not forever, but for a while. Think about it!!!!
